Our anniversary

Yesterday was our 2 year anniversary as a married couple! This photo is one of the few that I have from the night we eloped. We also didn't take a camera on our adventures yesterday. We are not so good at capturing the memories...

It was still a blast though! We went to LA to see American Idiot. I've never been a huge Green Day fan, so I didn't know how much I'd like it. Honestly, It was more than amazing! The BEST musical I have ever seen. About half way through, I was crying like a baby. I'm also having my special time of the month, so I'm not sure if the play was extra emotional or my hormones were speaking... If you get the chance, you should go see the show, really!

After the show, we drove to China town and got bbq pork buns. They were so yummy and reminded me of San Fransisco :( We hadn't made any dinner plans, but luckily we were able to get last minute reservations at Benihanas. It was Jesse's first time, so I was pretty excited for him. The food was kind of so-so this time.

I had my heart set on getting a nutella and banana crepe (hormones speaking again) but we had to rush home to get our baby boop. We spent the rest of the night cuddled up watching The Big Four concert. Perfect way to end the perfect day.

I woke up extra early to make some special heart shaped pancakes for my boys. Bryce loved them and really didn't want to share with mommy. While Jesse was at work, Bry and I decorated the apartment to surprise him. While Jesse and I went out to Mimi's Cafe, Bryce had a special date with his Meema, he looked quite dapper! It was really a fun and loving day.

Also the only wedding I've ever been to, unless you count the drive- through Vegas wedding elegant ;)

My big brother got married 2 weeks ago and it was a major tear fest for me.

His wife, and my new sister!! was sweet enough to include me as a bridesmaid.

It was a blast having girl time, doing the rehearsal, the dinner, and of course the wedding.

Going natural! A love story

In elementary school, my brother and I were the ONLY black kids.

Like any one else this made me feel different, it was hard to feel the same as everybody when my skin was so much darker and my hair so much more kinky. 

Eventually, I was began to feel comfortable. I didn't pay attention to skin colors as much, I was just a kid like everyone else. Yet, I still hated my hair.All of my friends had beautiful straight hair or loose curls and I had a frizz ball. 

My feelings about my hair continued through high school. People were constantly asking to feel my hair and then would proceed to tell me how rough it is. As you can probably guess, this only made me hate my hair more. Now that I was older my mom would let me get a relaxer to make my hair straight like all of my friends.

  I continued to get relaxers although it was expensive and a pain to get those chemicals every month.

This past year, the views about myself and beauty have had a major change.

I've gone natural! WOO.

No more icky chemicals for me.

I've grown to love my hair in it's natural form kinky curls and all.

There is such a big community of curly ladies going natural and always great new tips on how to style your hair. 

If any of you have some self acceptance stories I'd love to read them :)

Picnic time.

Summer always reminds me of a beautiful picnic. When we were younger my mom would have a big picnic a couple times a year and we would invite our family and friends, play sports and dance to music. I miss this. I can't wait to share these loves with my new family.

I'm such a proud mama.

Bryce stats:

He's over 14 pounds, almost doubling in size. 

 He's in the 90th percentile in head/brain development.

And of course he is a super duper cutie!

On Friday Bryce's Meema came over and helped me clean.

I am so thankful for her, I couldn't have asked for a better mommy!

Fab Friday #2

I'm loving sheer shirts right now.

So cute and perfect for summer.
Jesse would probably freak if I bought these though, he's so conservative with looks and as a curvy girl, I have a lot more to show :) They are fun to admire though.

Is it just me, or is this criss cross back style everywhere?
I still love it though!

I'm a sucker for bags, they are my weakness. I especially love a big bag because Jesse is always giving me a kazillion things to carry when we go on adventures. This dark color makes this one look so sophisticated.

 

I've been on the hunt for a pair of wedges. This pair of ALDO wedges are so cute, but for $110? Not within my budget at all. Let me know of you find any brown wedges for a lower price.

 

Simply put, I just REALLY want one of these rings.

This month has been a real roller coaster for me.

Of course I feel so very blessed for all the amazing people in my life helping me through it.

I did pretty darn spiffy on my May goals.

May Goals.

1. Start walking at least 15 minutes every morning and evening.
This hasn't been EVERY DAY, but almost so.
2. Learn how to crochet
Eh, I'll get to this eventually.. hopefully.
3. Do 10 sit-ups every day.
4. Study hard for final
I got a B+ in my online class! 

5. Have date nights once a week with hubbs.
Every Sunday :)


Now that's it's summer, I feel like my goals can be a lot more fun. I'm so excited!

June Goals
1. Learn the Thriller dance.
2. Go somewhere new once a week.
3. Work out for 30 min a day
4. Lose 10 pounds
5. Take more pictures.

I think I can definitely accomplish these goals.

I've been asked to be a bridesmaid!

They are getting married July 23rd, so it's all happening pretty quickly.

I'm trying to work on my relationship with my sister in-law to be. 

We started off on the wrong foot because I was so protective of my brother, but now it's getting better.

Today I went to my dress fitting and it went really well.

The dress is beautiful!

I've never been to a wedding before and I assumed the dress would be ugly since that's the way the movies make it seem, but I loves it.

After some very exciting wedding shopping

I went to my best friends little brothers birthday party. 

.... We were the only two jumping in the bouncy house.

Haha.

It was fun with yummy foods.

Now I'm home with the love of my life and the sweet apple of my eye (whatever that means) and I couldn't be happier!

I hope everyone's Saturday was as amazing as mine.

Oh la la Catalina!

As I mentioned in my previous post it was our one year anniversary on Tuesday.

Jesse took the day off of school and work and surprised me by take me to Catalina!! 

OH YEAH!

It was my first time ever going and...

It was BEAUTIFUL!

I'd love to live there.

 

 It was very romantic and sweet.

Today we're going to the San Diego Zoo and me so essitedd.
